Diaphgrams

Elastomers for dynamic separation in different applications.

Moulded elastomeric diaphragms are mainly used to hermetically separate two component spaces. Thanks to their exclusive design they are used in the most complicated mechanical, liquid and gaseous applications.
They operate as sealing elements between a fixed and a movable part. Pressure sensitivity depends on thickness, diameter and material used to manufacture the diaphragms.

Pros:
– they transmit pressure from one system to the other without conveying any polluting element
– they have good tight sealing characteristics
– they require no lubrication
– their resistance to ageing, to pressure changes and to weathering agents is good
– their installation is trouble-free

Functions:
Diaphragms have three main functions:
– Regulating and switching function: pressure applied to the diaphragm is converted into a rod force, which actuates a switching, regulating or display device
– Pumping function: in this case the diaphragms operate in an opposite way, that is to say they transform the stem force into feed/discharge pressure
– Separating function: spaces with similar pressure level are separated by means of a flexible and slightly mobile partition diaphragm. This allows changes in volume to take place.

Fields of use:
Their application range is very wide due to the fact that they can be moulded by making use of a wide variety of elastomeric materials: in general, they are particularly suitable to convert the differential pressure into force, for example: servo brake, pressure reducers and safety valves.
